Welcome to the official website of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority Police Department. The history of the airport traces back to its construction in 1930, initially known as the United Airport. In the 1940s, the airport was acquired by Lockheed, where iconic aircraft such as the P-38 Lightning, SR-71 Blackbird, and F-117 Stealth Fighter were born. Ownership transferred to the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority in 1978, reflecting the collective governance of the three cities.

The Bob Hope Airport, serving regions including the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, Ventura, the High Desert, and Santa Barbara, stands as a crucial economic driver and community partner in Burbank and the San Fernando Valley.

Today, the legacy of duty, honor, and service continues with the men and women of the Airport Police Department. Tasked with safeguarding against modern threats, including terrorism, our officers uphold the highest standards of professionalism and dedication. Every individual transiting through the airport is regarded as our guest.

Our commitment extends to ensuring a pleasant and safe experience for all visitors. Through community-oriented policing, we forge partnerships with neighboring entities, the TSA, FAA, airlines, tenants, and guests to maintain a friendly, secure environment conducive to daily operations.

During your visit to Bob Hope Airport, you’ll encounter our officers facilitating traffic flow, ensuring guest safety, and protecting against potential threats. Their unwavering dedication embodies the American spirit of service to others.

Sincerely,

EDWARD B. SVARSKI
Director, Public Safety
